If you would like to build your dog's confidence levels, help your dog deal with new stressors and environments that they typically find Very Scary, or you would simply like to shake things up a little when working on basic obedience commands, our new Being Brave program is exactly what you've been looking for.Â
Basic obedience exercises including focus under distraction, loose leash walking, and place/down stays are combined with sound tolerance activities, the introduction of various pieces of agility equipment, and opportunities to learn about the why's and how's of creating calm, confident dogs who can handle all the weird aspects of living with humans in modern society.
The entire program will consist of 7 classes each lasting 1 hour in length (although there is the possibility that some classes may go over the one hour time limit in order to ensure that all students get to experience success with each new scenario). Each of the first six classes will introduce a new piece of equipment or potentially Scary Thing for the dogs to learn to handle in a positive and confident way with seventh and final class consisting of those challenges being set up in an obedience inclusive obstacle course for the dogs and handlers to complete together.
These classes will be taught with a balanced training philosophy that focuses on positive reinforcement of all behaviours that are desirable as well as fair and appropriate corrections so that we can develop a super clear, super understandable picture for our dogs and encourage as much success as possible.
This class will be limited to a maximum of six participants (six dogs with one handler each) due to current space constraints.
All dogs are welcome as long as they are current on vaccinations. Puppies must have had at least two sets of vaccines in order to attend class.
If your dog is currently exhibiting extreme reactivity towards dogs or people please contact us at training@pawsrepublic.ca to discuss how we can arrange for your dog to attend this set of classes.
We can't wait to help you discover what you and your dog are capable of!
Please note that a $50 deposit is required to reserve your spot in the class.
